Misunderstanding of war 1： Introduction

This time, the territorial problem was revived between Japan, and China and South Korea.

The report that tells the situation of China and South Korea overflowed with the anti-Japanese sentiment.

Many attracted remarks in the domestic Internet were very exclusive.

On the other hand, there are many indifferent people overwhelmingly.

This made me worry about war.

By this series, I want to reduce the misunderstanding of war as much as possible.

今回、日本と中国・韓国との間で領土問題が再燃しました。

中国、韓国の様子を伝える報道は反日感情に溢れ、国内のインターネット上の発言は排他的なのが目につきます。

一方圧倒的に無関心な人が多いのです。このことに私は戦争を危惧しました。

この連載によって、私はすこしでも戦争に対する誤解を無くたいと思います。

On the Internet, the voice to which Japanese people blame Chinese people and South Koreans strongly stood out about the problem of Takeshima Island and the Senkaku Islands.

They commonly do not know the history or culture of a partner country, then they will have an antipathy.

They almost do not know that Japan did to South Korea or China for half a century, or misunderstand it to suit themselves.

In that context, it can be said that the textbook of a Japanese school is inducing a lack of understanding.

Although some facts are described, Japanese students cannot understand the reason that peoples of the partner country is indignant by only the contents.

Furthermore, from 20 years ago, the argument that there was not aggression of Japan began to cover mass media.

Naturally, this tendency is comfortable for many Japanese.

However, when this is neglected, the mutual hate will increase, it will cause the confrontation　finally.

今回の竹島、尖閣諸島の領有問題で、インターネット上で日本人が中国人や韓国人を強く非難する声が目につきました。

彼らは相手国の歴史や文化を知らずに反感を持っている。

日本が半世紀にわたって韓国や中国に対して行ったことを、彼らはまったく知らないか、都合の良いように誤解している。

その意味で日本の学校の教科書は、理解不足を生んでいると言える。

いくつか事実が述べられているが、それだけでは相手の憤慨する理由を理解出来ない。

さらにここ20年前から、日本の侵略行為はなかったとする論調がマスコミを覆い始めた。

当然、その方が日本人にとっては心地よいことではある。

しかしそのことを放置すると、互いの憎しみが増し、それが最終的に対立を引き起こすでしょう。

＊    We squarely face the unhappy history of Japan, South Korea, and China , and should　understand a partner's anger.

　

＊    Why do the war start, and why do it expand, and why can't we stop it?  We look at it。

＊    How does war ruin people's heart and how does war make people arouse the combative spirit?  We look at it。

＊    How does war cause a miserable and immense loss?  We look at it。

 

＊    Finally we look at the new method of solving conflict.

この連載では、以下のことを目指します。

＊    戦争が、どうして始まり、なぜ拡大し、なぜ止めることが出来ないのかを見る。

＊    最後に、紛争を解決する新たな方法を見ます。

Introduce the southern end of Awaji Island

The other day, l went to National Park Resort Minami Awaji in the south of Awaji Island.

My purpose was to lunch and go in a hot springs.

Because of fine weather, the sky and the bay of midsummer shone in deep blue, and were beautiful.

昨日、淡路島の南端にある休暇村・南淡路に行って来ました。

ランチと温泉が目的でした。

快晴で真夏の空と福良湾は濃い青色に光り輝き美しかった。

This whirlpool in the Naruto Strait is one of the largest in the world.

The greatest diameter reaches as many as 30m.

鳴門海峡には世界でも有数の渦潮が発生します。

その最大直径は３０ｍにも達します。

The grace of delicious sea can be taken from this bay and the Naruto Straits.

Famous things are Tai (sea bream), Hugu (puffer fish), Hamo (sharp-toothed eel), and Wakame (a kind of seaweed).

この湾と鳴門海峡の海の幸は鯛、ふぐ、はも、わかめが有名です。

It is an example of Japanese food that uses seafood.

Though regrettable, I am not eating this time.

Please spend this summer happily and energetically.

これは海の幸を使った日本料理の例です。

Bullying at school in Japan

These days, suicide of the student by bullying is conspicuous.

The bullying does not decrease in Japanese schools.

I seem that People have not will to reduce bullying in schools and society.

Bullying is to attack the individual. 

A bully use violence on a student for a long time, take money and goods, destroy goods, abuse and despises.

Then they ignore the student and he becomes alone.

Neither the surrounding student nor a teacher stops bullying.

His parents also do not understand his pain.

The child commits suicide with feeling of despair.

最近、いじめによる学生の自殺が目立っている。

日本の学校でいじめが減らない。

学校と社会でいじめを減らそうとする意志がないように見える。

いじめは個人を攻撃することです。

いじめは暴力を加え、所持品や金品を奪い破壊し、汚い言葉で罵り、軽蔑する。

さらに無視し除け者にする。

周囲の生徒も先生もいじめを止めない。親も苦しみを理解しない。

その子供は絶望感を懐き自殺する。

Reason why bullying doesn't disappear.

A bullying student:  Although he is naturally bad, in Japan, it does not become so.

Usually, a home of the bully has many problems. Probably, his heart is wild.

Teachers sympathize with the bully and there is a tendency to withhold.

Moreover, the teachers do not have a clear distinction of bullying and play.

The bully can escape from the justice on the excuse.

A bullied student:  Many people think that there is a problem in a bullied student.

To be sure, many of bullied student may are the solitary children and unresisting children.

Society is filled in malice, and a teacher and a father expect him "have the spirit which overcomes it."

It drives a bullied student into a corner.

Students don’t stop the bullying:　The children of a class don’t stop the bullying.

They fears that he is made into the next target and is revenged.

Teachers:   if a teacher is going to check bullying, the bully says it play、and a bullied student says no bullying.

A bullied student doesn’t trust a teacher and fears the revenge.

Even if the teacher can confirm the bullying, he does not understand the punishment method for the bullying student.

School: 　 Many schools forget the bullying ever existed, even if the student commits suicide.

Rarely, the school recommends a bullied student withdrawal from the school, instead of the bullying student.

いじめが無くならない理由を考える。

いじめる子　：　悪いのが当然なはずですが、日本ではそうならない。

通常、いじめる子はその家庭に問題があることが多い。彼の心はすさんでいるだろう。先生は、いじめる子に同情し、遠慮する傾向がある。また、いじめと遊びの明確な区別を持たない。いじめる子は、それを口実に逃げることが出来る。

いじめられる子：いじめられる子に問題があると思う人々が多い。確かに、いじめられる子は抵抗しない子、孤独な子が多いでしょう。どうせ社会は悪意に満ちており、それに打ち勝つ気概を持ちなさいと先生も父親も期待する。結局、子供を追い込むことになる。

制止しない生徒：クラスの子達は、いじめを制止しない。自分が次ぎの標的にされる、仕返しされることを恐れる。

先生達：先生がいじめを確認しようとしても、いじめる子は遊びと言い、いじめられる子もいじめでないと言う。いじめられる子は先生を信用できず、仕返しを恐れる。先生達は、例え確認出来ても、いじめ子への懲罰方法がわからない。

学校など：　多くの学校はいじめを無かったことにする、その子が自殺しても。希に、いじめる子ではなく、いじめられる子に退学や転校を薦めることがある。

There are three problems in these.

A.  Bullying is considered to be a problem of the heart of the person. This is a mistake.

People will sympathize with a bullying student and will consider training to a bullied student.

B.　People’s consciousness to protect social justice is low.

People have the tendency to sympathize with the circumference rather than social justice.

C.　People are caught by social convention.

People mightily think that a student must be strong, have many friends and be not absent from a school.

Probably, many suicide of bullying is in the culture that admits suicide of a protest.

The solution of bullying begins from controlling violence.

これらには三つの問題がある。

A　いじめを本人の心の問題と考える間違い。

人々は、いじめる子には同情、いじめられる子には鍛錬と考える。

B　人々は社会正義を守っていく意識が低い。

人々は社会正義よりも周囲に同調する傾向が強い。

C　人々は社会の因習に囚われている。

子供は強く、多くの友人を持ち、学校を休んではならないという固定観念が強い。いじめの自殺が多いのは、抗議の自殺を容認する文化にあるだろう。

いじめ解決はいじめの暴力を制止することから一歩が始まる。

Birth of primitive art 3: Development of statue

＜　A Venus statue made from a reindeer horn, in Nebra, Germany ＞

Last time, we looked at the female statue and the Venus statue that were made from 35000 years ago to 15000 years ago.

We looked at the first situation that human beings hold an image in their mind and manufactures it as a statue that can be taken in hand.

This time, we look at a diversification of the female statue and some statues except a female type.

The upper Venus statue is introduced last time. A Gonnersdorf ruins are located 300 km away from the ruins that this Venus statue was found in the same Germany.

Here, one group was living in some tent on the flat ground along the Rhine only wintertime at about 15000 years ago.

In this ruins, the researcher unearthed many clay stone into which the woman image is carved by drawing line. It just resembled the touch of the Addaura Cave painting, "Birth of primitive art 2 ".

The picture was the side view that abbreviated the head and a leg. and it expressed the hand, the breast and the buttock by two outlines.

The Venus statues discovered here was completely the same as the upper Venus statue.

前回、私達は３５０００～１５０００年前に作られたビーナス像を見ました。

そこには人類がイメージを膨らまし、手に取ることが出来る像として製作する最初の様子を見ました。

今回は、女性像の多様化と、女性像以外の像を見ます。

上記像は前回紹介したものです。このビーナス像の見つかった地から西３００ｋｍ離れた同じドイツにゲナスドルフ遺跡がある。

ここで１５０００年前頃、ライン河添いの平地に集団が冬期だけ数張りのテント生活をしていた。

この遺跡から、線刻で女性が描かれている粘板岩が多く発掘された。ちょうど「原初美術の誕生１」addaura洞窟壁画のタッチに似ている。

その絵は頭と脚は省略され、手と乳房と臀部のみが２本の輪郭線で表現された側面図であった。ここで発見されたビーナス像は上記像とまったく同じであった。

These are the Venus statues at last stage of the glacial epoch. These Venus statues of side view type were distributed among about 2400 km from west France to the east Ukraine.

Although it is a simple form altogether, there is individuality, respectively. A diversity of Aesthetic sense and symbolization has already arisen here. It is a culture.

The clay figure of fig.7 (Siberia) in upper figure resembles the oldest clay figure of Japan.

これらは氷河期末期のビーナス像です。これら側面観のビーナス像は、西のフランスから東のウクライナまでの約２４００ｋｍの間に分布していた。

すべてシンプルな形態ではあるが、それぞれ個性がある。ここには既に美的感覚、象徴化の文化に多様性が生じている。

図中の７マイニンスカヤ（シベリヤ）の土偶だけは、日本の縄文時代創生期の土偶（花輪台など）に似ている。

Much movable statues expect the Venus statues were also made at the glacial epoch.

Those many were the horses and bisons of hunting animals. Others were the mammoth, the lion, the bird, and the goat.

In an old thing, in a cave of southwest Germany, a horse statue was made from ivory at 35000 years ago. Fig.1 (6 cm in length)

As a unique thing, in a cave of south Germany, a lion man statue was made from ivory at 32000 years ago. Fig.2 (30 cm in height)　This is the personified oldest thing and we associates it with the sphinx of Egypt. The people soon will make a god statue that fulfills their dreams.

At 20000 years ago in France, an atlatl was made of a reindeer bone. Fig.3 (25 cm in length)

The atlatl is a tool that doubled the driving distance of the spear.

Probably, a simple expressive will and a desire of prayer arise first. The esthetic pattern was established soon. Subsequently, it became a status symbol. I can guess from the sketch of the clay stone discovered at the Gonnersdorf ruins.

From next time, we will look at the cave painting of glacial epoch in Europe.

氷河期、動産美術はビーナス像以外にもたくさん作られた。それらの多くは狩猟動物である馬とバイソンが多く、他にはマンモス、ライオン、鳥、ヤギがあった。

古いものでは３５０００年前、南西ドイツの洞窟、象牙製馬、図1（長さ６ｃｍ）がある。また特異なものとしては３２０００年前、南ドイツの洞窟、象牙製ライオンマン図２（高さ３０ｃｍ）が見つかった。これは擬人化された最古のもので、エジプトのスフィンクスを連想させる。もうすぐ人々が望む大きな力を持つ神像が誕生してくることになる。

２００００年前、フランス、トナカイの骨製投槍器、図３（長さ２５ｃｍ）がある。投槍器は、槍の飛距離を2倍にした道具です。

おそらく素朴な表現意欲と祈願の目的が先立ち、美的な文化様式が定着すると、やがてステイタスシンボルとなったのだろう。それがゲナスドルフ遺跡で発見された多くの粘板岩のデッサンから推察出来る。

次回から、氷河期ヨーロッパの洞窟絵画を見て行きます。

Introduce the west side of Kyushu

In September, last year, I traveled Kumamoto, Saga, and Nagasaki in Kyushu.

It generally was fine and I was able to enjoy a wonderful landscape and a history.

去年9月、九州の熊本、佐賀、長崎を旅行しました。

概ね天気に恵まれ、すばらしい景観と歴史を楽しむことが出来ました。

The somma of the volcano has 20 km in diameter, and there are many villages and farms in that inner side.

この火山は直径２０ｋｍの外輪山を持ち、その内側には多くの村と畑があります。

The castle tower with remarkable black is one of the representatives of the castle in Japan.

The feature of the castle in Japan is made of wood and clay on the foundation of high stonewalls.

The white wall mixes clay with burnt lime.

This castle was made about 400 years ago, but it was destroyed by fire and it was rebuilt.

           

黒色が目立つ天守閣は日本を代表する城の一つです。これは規模の大きな城砦のほんの一部です。

日本の城の特徴は高い石積みの土台の上に木造と土で作られていることです。

白い壁は石灰と粘土を混ぜたものです。

この城は約４００年前に作られたが、消失し再建されたものです。

The just rebuilt palace (convention place) was large.

再建されたばかりの本丸御殿（大会場）は大きかった。

Mt. Fugen that is visible from the ferry of the Sea of Ariake has marks of lava flow which a major volcanic eruption made.

有明海のフェリーから見た普賢岳、大噴火時の溶岩流跡が見える。

Period of national isolation, Nagasaki was only one place that can be traded with the Netherlands.

Japan was continuously trading with China and South Korea.

The new knowledge and the new culture flowed into Japan from here in those days.

This is one of the factors that made Japan go to the Meiji Restoration.

長崎は鎖国時代、唯一オランダと交易出来る場所だった。

日本は中国と韓国と交易を続けていました。

当時、ここから新しい文化、知識が日本に流入した。

このことがやがて日本を明治維新へと向かう切っ掛けとなった。

A Buddhist temple is located on the right-hand side of the stairs that gone up to the Xavier commemoration church on a hill.

The trade with Europe began from this ground, and propagation of Christianity (Catholic) also started.

Then, we went to the Saga castle.

I could know Kyushu of the Edo period by seeing Nagasaki of a trading port, Hirado, Kumamoto Castle and the Saga castle.

Seeing the Mt. Aso volcano, Mt. Fugen and the Sea of  Ariake, I understand that the west side of Kyushu consists of a volcano and a complicated overseas line.

I could enjoy local fish dishes using freshly caught seafood in a shopping street in Sasebo.

丘の上のザビエル記念教会へと上る階段の右側には仏教寺院がある。

この地からヨーロッパとの交易が始まり、キリスト教（カソリック）の布教が始まりました。

この後、佐賀城に行きました。

熊本城、佐賀城、貿易港だった長崎、平戸を見ることにより江戸時代の九州を知ることが出来た。

火山の阿蘇、普賢岳、深い湾である有明海、九十九島を見て九州が火山と複雑な海外線からなることがわかった。

佐世保の商店街で地魚の料理を食べて満足した。
