Walking around Higashiura, Awaji-Island in winter 1

*1

Today, I introduce mountains, fields, and sea of Higashiura.

February 13th 2018, I walked for 12 km during snowing occasionally.

I wil introduce it in installments from now.

First

This area I walked is at about the center of old Higashiura-town.

This became a part of Awaji-city due to merging of cities towns and villages.

Higashiura is a warm land faceing Osaka gulf, and the most of it is hills with mautains behind.

You can came from Kobe to here for 45 minutes by only an expressway bus.

Lower map:  North is right.  The blue dot line shows walked trail in a circle.

The distance is about 12 km, and the difference of elevation is about 70 meters.

I walked paths of hills along mountainside, paths along a river in basin, along sea shore, and through ports.

The yellow line shows the part introducing this time.

< 4.  bamboo woods >

The bamboo is always blue even among a lot of dead trees in winter mountain, so it  reminds me breathes life.

But the bamboo woods are expanding because bamboo has strong life and the woods are left uncontrolled due to village people are aging.

Among a lot of dead trees in winter, fruits in fruit farm, daffodils and field mustards blossom.

Higashiura is famous for flower-growing of carnation etc. and the hills are full of glasshouses.

Many holding ponds are scattered there.

These holding ponds were needed to irrigation of rice paddy fields that located in a steep slop, and the village people have made and controlled it together.

This seems to have made the unity of people strong.
