ドラマ「東京裁判」を見て

今日は、素晴らしい再現ドラマ「東京裁判」を紹介します。

これはNHKのテレビ番組で、この１２月１２～１５日に放送されたものです。

YouTubeで「東京裁判　NHKドラマ」が見れます。

はじめに

東京裁判は、勝者の意趣返し、または戦争否定に繋がったと評価が分かれている。

また私にとって東京裁判はいつか全貌を知らなければならない課題でした。

それは、「日本を戦争へと突き進ませた状況をどう見るか？」でした。

言い換えれば、「戦争の責任は国の指導者、国際状況、国民のいずれがより重いのか？」になる。

今一つは、「国際法（国家間で作った条約など）に期待を託せるのか？」でした。

言い換えれば、「国際法で国家や戦争を裁くことが可能か？」になる。

その答えは先送りになったが、私はドラマに救われた思いがした。

ドラマでは各国から派遣された１１人の判事が「日本の戦争」に真剣に取り組み、篤く議論する姿が描かれていた。

彼らは「悲惨な戦争の再発防止」「残虐行為への懲罰」「厳密な法適用」「戦争への根源的な問い」など、それぞれの信条に従い議論し、ぶつかりまた協力して行く。

そして半年で終わるはずの裁判は２年半に及んだ。

超難題を抱える裁判の裏側を、各国の名優が演じ切った。

素晴らしい人間ドラマです。

「極東国際軍事裁判が正称。

1946年１月19日連合国最高司令官マッカーサーの命令で設立された極東国際軍事裁判所が日本の戦争指導者に対して行った裁判。

原告は米・英・中・ソのほか７ヵ国。

同年５月３日より東京市谷で開廷。

裁判長はオーストラリアのウェッブ。

首席検察官は米国のキーナン。

戦争犯罪を〈平和に対する罪〉〈殺人の罪〉〈通常の戦争犯罪と人道に対する罪〉に分けて満州事変以来の日本軍閥の侵略を追及。

1948年11月12日判決。

東条英機ら７名が絞首刑，荒木貞夫ら16名が終身禁錮。

ニュルンベルク裁判とともに二大国際裁判といわれる。」

日本の戦争

満州事変に始まり日中戦争へ、さらに真珠湾攻撃から太平洋戦争へと突き進んだ。

そして、最後は日本全土の空襲と原爆投下で終戦となった。

この第二次世界大戦で世界の人口の２．５％（民間人５５００万人、軍人２５００万人）が死んだ。

上の映像：　判事達が裁判に臨むシーン。

先頭にいるのはオーストラリアのウエッブ裁判長。

下の映像：　判事全員が被告人の罪の有無、量刑について議論するシーン。

初めは、まとまっているように見えたが、やがて亀裂が走り始める。

その一つの論点は「平和に対する罪」で被告を裁けるかどうかでした。

実は、世界はながらく戦争を国家の権利（自衛権）と見なしていたのです。

どう法律家があがいても、戦争する国を止めることが出来なかったからです。

一方、戦闘手段の制限は１２世紀頃から国際法として徐々に発展し、戦争犯罪が確定していった。

しかし、世界は第一次世界大戦後の壮絶な殺し合いを経験し、戦争を違法とするパリ不戦条約を発行した。

しかし、これは不完全であり、また戦争を再発させてしまった。

その反省から、第二次世界大戦中の１９９５年に連合国が中心となり「平和に対する罪」を規定した国際軍事裁判所憲章を急遽作った。

それに加え、様々な論点が波乱を呼んだ。

＜　５．ドラマのシーン２ ＞

一番上の写真：　オランダのレ－リンク判事と竹山道雄（「ビルマの竪琴」の著者）との交友。

レ－リンク判事はパール判事に感化され、後に判決に対する反対意見書を提出した。

彼は事後法の問題は逃れえるが、日本の指導者への極刑は過ぎると反対した。

ドラマでは、彼が中心になっているように思える。

二番目の写真：　英国のパトリック判事（中央）が中心となって日本の戦争指導者に断固、極刑を課する多数派を結成する。

アメリカ、中国、フィリピン、ロシア、カナダ、ニュージーランドがこれに同調し、弱腰の裁判長の追い出しや判決文作成を担った。

彼らは国際軍事裁判所憲章の順守とニュルンベルク裁判の成果を損ねないことを盾にした。

そこには各国の事情や個人の偏見や復讐心が垣間見えた。

三番目の写真：　インドのパール判事。

彼は当初から、法の恣意的な適用に断固反対し、１２３５ページに及ぶ別個の判決文を提出した。

日本の行った戦争犯罪を裁くことは可能だが、法のプロが事後法の「平和に対する罪」を適用することがあってはならないとした。

また焦土と化した日本を見て、欧米先進国の身勝手さと思い上がりを痛烈に批判した。

それは原爆投下、また世界に害悪をもたらした帝国主義、日本を軍事大国に追い込んだかもしれない行為を顧みない姿勢です。

四番目の写真：　フランスのベルナール判事。

彼も法律家として、東京裁判が正当化出来ないとして、反対の立場から意見書を提出した。

あとがき

私はこの手のNHKの活躍を誇り思い感謝します。

これまでもNHKは、ベトナム戦争や日本の戦争について徹底した調査を行い、分かりやすい形で放送して来た。

このドラマはオランダ、カナダとの共同制作で、８年もの歳月をかけたらしい。

ドラマで描かれた赤裸々な葛藤や苦悶、断固意思を貫く人々が絡み合う血の通った論争シーン、どれもが私を魅了した。

一方で残念なこともある。

無理だとは思うが、国際法の今後、「世界が国家の不正義を裁くこと」の意味を語って欲しかった。

残念ながら、現在の状況を見るとパール判事の言った、「世界はまだ未成熟である」が７０年後も変わらないようです。

相変わらず、大国は恣意的な戦闘や軍事援助を行い続け、止める算段がないどころか、深みにはまるばかりです。

In the fourth century, a bishop of Milan said.
"The synagogue is a gathering place of infidel whom God forever convicted, a house of profane persons or a hideout of madman."

In the fourth century, a sermon by a bishop of Antioch.
“If the Jew is a demon or devil, shouldn't you escape from the Jew?
Getting friendly with the Jew who killed the son of your God and is a killer who crucified Jesus is to despise your God, doesn't it?”

In the 16th century, German religion reformer, Martin Luther wrote.
" The Jew is a beast that bears malice, viper, poison, devil incarnate,.... and dung of pig."
" Christian! You must not doubt that there is not person being more harmful and cruel than true Jew living next to you."
"We burn a synagogue, and we must throw sand and mud to whoever running away from the fire. "


偉大な教父の罵り
４世紀、ミラノ司教。
「ユダヤ教会堂は神ご自身の永遠の断罪の下にある不信心者のたまり場、不敬な者の家、血迷った男たちの隠れ家である。」

４世紀、アンティオキア司教の説教。
「ユダヤ人が悪霊、悪魔自身であるとしたらユダヤ人から逃れようとしないだろうか。
ヤダヤ人はあなたの主の子を殺した・・・・イエスを十字架につけた殺し屋を重んじたり、つき合いを深めることは主を侮蔑することになるではないか」

１６世紀、ドイツの宗教改革者ルーター。
「ユダヤ人は悪意に満ちた獣、腹黒い輩、胸くそ悪いくず、害悪、悪魔の化身・・・豚の糞」
「キリスト教徒よ、あなた方の隣にいる本当のユダヤ人以上に残酷で有害で悪辣な者はいないことを疑ってはならない。」
「ユダヤ教会堂を燃やし、その火から逃げ出す者が誰であれ、砂と泥をかぶせねばならない」

Why did the great Church Fathers repeat such swear words?

There is the grounds in “The Gospel According to Saint John”

7-1
“And after these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Judaea, because the Jews sought to kill him.”

8-44
“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father it is your will to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and standeth not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof.”

In the Bible, this author made Jesus say that the Jew was a murderer of Jesus and a child of devil.
The hostility against the Jew already rose and overflowed.
It is thought that this book was completed in the end of first century.

なぜ偉大な教父はこのような罵りをく返したのだろうか？

「ヨハネによる福音書」にその根拠が見える。

７章１節
「その後、イエスはガリラヤを巡っておられた。
ユダヤ人が殺そうとねらっていたので、ユダヤを巡ろうとは思われなかった。」

８章４４節
「あなたたち（ユダヤ人）は、悪魔である父から出た者であって、その父の欲望を満たしたいと思っている。
悪魔は最初から人殺しであって、真理をよりどころとしていない。
彼の内には真理がないからだ。
悪魔が偽りを言うときは、その本性から言っている。
自分が偽り者であり、その父だからである。」

ここで、作者はユダヤ人がイエス殺しであり、悪魔の子だとイエスに言わせている。既にユダヤ人への敵意が満ち溢れている。
この書は１世紀末に成立したと考えられている。

From “The Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the Romans”

11-18
“ Glory not over the branches: but if thou gloriest, it is not thou that bearest the root, but the root thee.”

Saint Paul criticizes the Jew in another place, but says here that you must not look down on the Jew.

He developed Christianity into for foreigner from only for the Jew, and was an apostle who built a route to the world religion.
It is said that St. Paul wrote this letter in early 58.

When comparing these two sentences, the apostle seems to have not looked down on the Jew during the missionary work in the middle of first century, but the situation seems to have changed around the end in the first century.

パウロの「ローマの信徒への手紙」１１章１８節を見ます。

「折り取られた枝に対して誇ってはなりません。
誇ったところで、あなたが根（ユダヤ人）を支えているのではなく、根があなたを支えているのです。」
パウロはユダヤ人を別の個所で非難はしているが、ユダヤ人を見くだしてはならないとしている。

パウロはユダヤ人だけのキリスト教から異邦人のキリスト教に発展させ、世界宗教への道筋をつけた使徒です。
この手紙はパウロが西暦５８年初頭に書いたとされる。

二つの書を比べると、1世紀中頃、まさに使徒が布教に専念している折は、ユダヤ人をそれほど敵視していなかったが、1世紀も末になると状況は変わったように思える。

「ヨハネによる福音書」の作者は１２使徒のヨハネとは異なる人物で、後に伝聞によってこの福音書を書いたとされる。
また４つの福音書の中で、これは他の３つの共観福音書と内容が異なり、独自の考えで書かれており、福音書の中では最後のものと考えられている。

The history of the Persecution of Jews in Europe
Persecuting Jews was not limited to just Germany during the Second World War.
From a long time ago, the storm of the persecution of Jews had raged from Europe to Russia.

When motion of the Crusade became lively in the eleventh century, people who considered Jews the enemy of Christian turned into a mob and killed one-third of Jews in Germany and north France.

In the thirteenth century, anti-Judea riot happened, and Jews who had served British royal families became deportation.
But, in the 18th century, the U.K. established a Jewish district in London to win intense world trade competition.

Jews of France had lived as merchants or craftsmen in some cities, but in the 14th century, the motion of anti-Judea happened, and the Jews were ousted.
But, after the French Revolution, the Jews were endowed with equal right once.

When the pest was epidemic in the 14th century, the false rumor that Jews threw poisons into wells spread, and the persecution and slaughter against them happened in each place.
From this time, the Jew was forcibly segregated into ghettos.

When Reconquista was completed in the Iberian Peninsula in the 15th century, not only Muslim but also Jew was ousted.
And, the Inquisition was carried out against Christian converts who still stayed, and most of the execution by burning were Jews.

The Jew that was ousted from Europe flowed into Poland and Russia of the east side.
Whenever countries the Jew immigrated to were confused, here again the Jew was persecuted as an outlet for complaint and betrayer.



西欧でのユダヤ人迫害の歴史
大戦中のドイツだけがユダヤ人迫害を行ったのではありません。
西欧からロシアにかけて、遥か以前からユダヤ人迫害の嵐が吹き荒れていた。

１１世紀、十字軍運動が盛り上がると、ユダヤ人をキリスト教徒の敵とみなした民衆が暴徒化し、ドイツや北フランスのユダヤ人を三分の一を殺した。

１３世紀、反ユダヤ暴動が起こり、英国王家に仕えていたユダヤ人が国外追放となった。
但し、１８世紀、英国は激しい貿易競争に勝つためにロンドンにユダヤ人地区を設けた。

フランスのユダヤ人は幾つかの都市で商人・職人として暮らしていたが、１４世紀になるとユダヤ人の迫害が進み、追放された。
但し、フランス革命後、ユダヤ人に平等の権利が認められたことがあった。

１４世紀、ぺストが大流行すると、ユダヤ人が井戸に毒を投げ込んだデマが広がり、各地で迫害や虐殺が起きた。
この頃から、ユダヤ人をゲットー（居住区）に強制隔離するようになった。

１５世紀、イベリア半島でレコンキスタが完了すると、イスラム教徒だけでなくユダヤ教徒も追放された。
そして残ったキリスト教改宗者に対して異端審問が行われ、火刑の多くはユダヤ人であった。

これら西欧から追放されたユダヤ人は東方のポーランドやロシア側に流入した。
ここでもユダヤ人は、移住先の国が混乱する度に、不満のはけ口や裏切り者として迫害されることになった。

Why was the Jew persecuted?
There are some common points about the background of above-mentioned persecutions.

When certain society fell into an difficult economic situation, the dissatisfaction of the people was turned to rich Jews, and their assets were often plundered.

The reason why moneylender is outstanding to Jew is Christian could not enter the moneylending business because the Old Testament (Deuteronomy) had prohibited the interest rate.
On the other hand, all restrictions were imposed on the Jew of Europe, they could not go into agriculture or guild (trade association), and had no choice but to go into a moneylending business or entertainment.  Annotation 1.

The Jew was despised and was considered as a betrayer, then was often considered as a cause of epidemic or natural disaster.
Because the Jew had repeated Diaspora and emigration, when they were persecuted, they sometimes asked for help from other countries, and went over to the other side.
The same as many victims of discrimination , it came to develop the group's own identity to strengthen solidarity, and they became more remote from the neighboring society.

However, the largest cause is elsewhere.
It was closely related to the fact that the Jew had been able to coexist with Islam until one century ago.
In other words, it is the antagonism between Christianity and Judaism.
In an extreme instance, the Christianity was established by adding the New Testament to the Old Testament of the Judaism and was the religion like the brothers of it.
However, the establishment of Christianity made the Jew unfortunate.

なぜユダヤ人は迫害を受けたのか？
前述の迫害が起きた背景に幾つかの共通点がある。

社会が経済的苦境に陥ると民衆の不満が裕福なユダヤ人に向けられ、資産が略奪されることもあった。

ユダヤ人に金融家が目立つのは、旧約聖書（申命記）が金利を禁止していたのでキリスト教徒は金融業に参入出来なかったことによる。
一方、西欧のユダヤ人は、あらゆる制限を課せられ、農業やギルド（同業者組合）に参入出来ず、金融業や芸能などを生業にせざるを得なかった。注釈１．

ユダヤ人は蔑視され裏切り者と見なされており、疫病や天変地異の原因にされた。
ユダヤ人は離散と移住を繰り返していたので迫害されると、救いの手を他国に求めたり、また寝返ることもあった。
多くの被差別民と同様に、団結を強めることが集団の独自性を高めることになり、より周辺社会から疎遠になってしまった。

しかし最大の要因は別にある。
それは、一世紀前まで、ユダヤ教徒はイスラム世界で共存出来ていたことと関係があります。
つまり、キリスト教とユダヤ教の対立なのです。
キリスト教はユダヤ教の旧約聖書に新約聖書を加えて成立した兄弟のような宗教です。
しかし、キリスト教の誕生がユダヤ教徒に悲運を背負わせることになったのです。

注釈１．
申命記（旧約聖書）による金利の禁止はキリスト教徒よりもユダヤ人にとって重大なのですが、二つの逃げ道があった。

「同胞に利子を付けて貸してはならない。・・・外国人（異教徒）には利子を付けて貸してもよい・・」２４章２０－２１より
ハムラビ法典でも、国内と国外で法律の適用を変えている。

「主はあなたを祝福されるから、多くの国民に貸すようになるが、借りることはないであろう。」１５章０６節より

またユダヤ人は中東において古代より高い文化を持ち王宮に仕え、離散によるネットワークを生かし貿易で活躍していた。
西欧において、キリスト教徒は金融業から締め出されたので、逆にユダヤ人は金融業で成功することになった。


ここで宗教に共通する現象がみられる。
それは金利や利益の扱いです。
ほぼ世界の経典宗教は、金利や商業を蔑視し禁止していた（実際には行われていた）。
これは当時の小さな同族社会では、利子や利益を貪る行為が融和を乱し、紛争を招くと考えられていたからです。
しかし、時は流れ、産業と貿易が発展すると偽装金利が横行するようになり、ついには金利を容認せざるを得なくなった。

それぞれの教団は聖典の解釈を変更せざるを得なくなった。
キリスト教では、１３～１４世紀にかけて、一部の利子を認めていくことになった。
１６世紀の宗教改革以降、利子取得は容認されるようになった。

イスラムでもコーランは利子を禁止していた。
資金の貸与は利子以外の方法で利益が得られ行われていたが、商事会社の発達を阻害しいた。
１９世紀後半、ファトワーが発せられ、ムスリムも利子や配当を受け取れる場合が認められた。
最近では利子取得を回避する手として、銀行と融資を受けた事業体が共同経営を行い、利益を配分する例がある。

ここで興味深いのは、聖典に遺存した古い規律が社会の変化に適合しなくなると、教団は何とか解釈の変更で問題解決を図っていることです。

There is a sad nature of human repeated. 

前回、イスラムが西欧からどのように見られていたかを知りました。
これから、なぜユダヤ人は虐げられたかを探ります。
そこには繰り返して来た人類の悲しい性があります。

Preface
At the start of taking up the problems of the Middle East, I had dissatisfaction toward the present conditions that Muslim in the Middle East was treated like a bad person unfairly, so I was going to investigate the truth.
However, the more I investigate, the more I feel a feeling of futility.

I can say that the most of failing to advancing the peace is due to the Middle East including the existence of radical extremists.
On the other hand, there are a lot of outside factors that embroiled the Middle East in armed conflicts.
The Middle East war began with the founding of Israel.
It seems a result of the counter action of Jewish people that had been persecuted in the Eurasian Continent.

I have handled various wars through my blog so far.
These also had many flash points in common with the Middle East.
One of them is a feeling of discrimination to produce antagonism or persecution.


はじめに
私は中東問題を取り上げるに当たり、中東のムスリムが不当に悪者扱いされる現状に不満を持ち、真実を探ろうとした。
しかし、調べれば調べるほど、空しくなってしまった。

確かに、和平が進まないのは暴虐な過激派の存在など中東の側に問題が多いと言える。
一方で、中東に紛争を呼び込んだ外部要因が数多く存在している。
中東戦争勃発はイスラエルの建国が切っ掛けでした。
それはユダヤ人がユーラシア大陸で受けた迫害の反動でした。

私は、今までブログで様々な戦争を扱って来ました。
それらにも、中東とほぼ共通する火種が存在しました。
その一つが、対立や迫害を生む差別感情です。

Jewish misfortunes
Looking around the world, I don't know a race such as Jew that had been so despised and achieved success.
After the extinction of Israel, the Jew was scattered all over the world and continued being persecuted for 2,000 years, and accomplished the founding of Israel in the same area.
Now, it could say that the Jew is one of the world's top race in knowledge, information, and
capital power.
The Israel is an advanced industrial country, and an eminent military nation having nuclear weapon.

Why was this excellent race despised and persecuted for 2,000 years?
It originated in Jerusalem and arose from a grudge bred in Europe.
The grudge seems to have been amplified by a fervent devotion.


ユダヤ人の悲運
世界中見渡して、ユダヤ人ほど侮蔑され、かつ成功した民族を知りません。
ユダヤ人はイスラエル滅亡後、世界に離散し、２０００年間迫害され続けた後、同じ地に建国を成し遂げた。
今やユダヤ人は知識や情報、資本力で世界有数の民族と言えるでしょう。
イスラエルは先進工業国であり、核兵器を持つ有数の軍事国家と言える。

なぜこれだけの事を成した優秀な民族が、２０００年もの間、侮蔑され迫害されたのだろう。
それはエルサレムに始まり、西欧で醸成された怨念が災いしている。
その怨念は篤い信仰心によって増幅されたように思える。

A Jewish tragedy
The most known tragedy will be the Holocaust by Nazis Germany.
While World War II, the German military killed 6 million Jews in concentration camps and forced labor.

Why did Hitler do such a reckless act?
Hitler described the reason in "Mein Kampf".
“ It is our only purpose to achieve the existence and prosperity of our German race as Aryan that can create excellent culture.
....
The pacifism, democracy, and internationalism to antagonize Germany nationalism are means for world conquest by "Jewish race" as a destroyer of all culture. “

Why did Hitler hate Jew so much?
This happened in the process that Germany became a fascism from the bottom after World War I.
He professed the defeat and economic ruin of German were mainly due to Jew.
Jew was always despised as miser, betrayer and vulgar person than before.
Then, Hitler thought that necessary condition for the revival of Germany was to get Eastern Europe again by the fight with the Soviet Union.
On the other hand, anti-Semitic purges in Russia became harsh, and many Jews flowed into Eastern Europe from Russia.
Because Germans were afraid of the Soviet Union and communism, they worried about Jewish betrayal.
Thus, Germans obeyed racial discrimination of Hitler blindly.

ユダヤ人の悲劇
最も知られているのはナチス・ドイツによるホロコーストでしょう。
第二次世界大戦中、ドイツ軍は強制収容所と強制労働などで、６００万人のユダヤ人を殺害した。

なぜヒトラーはこのような暴挙に出たのだろうか？
ヒトラーは「わが闘争」でその理由を述べている。

なぜヒトラーはここまでユダヤ人を目の敵にしたのか。

What is understood from previous examples of the Buddhism and Hinduism
Religion retained laws and social system of that time, and also kept the discrimination.
In addition, it regards the heresy with hostility to secure the legitimacy, and the antagonism arises.
The religious community will promote these strongly.

宗教は当時の規範や制度を遺存し、差別を温存することになる。
また正当性を確保する為に異端を敵視し、対立を生むことになる。
教団がこれらを強力に推し進めることになる。

How did Europe cognize Islam?
“ It is fundamentally impossible that Muslim tolerably governs Christian countries.”
In the late 19th century, British prime minister Gladstone swore in this way.
He was a pious Christian and dominated during the colony expansion.

"The sword and Koran of Muhammad are the biggest enemy for civilization, freedom and truth since recorded history."
In the late 19th century, Scottish Islamic scholar William Muir said in this way.
He was a colonial administrator in India, too.

There are still persons believing "the Koran or a sword" as words indicating the aggressiveness of the Islam, but this is only a forgery.

“This notorious swindler Muhammad was the founder of the heresy doctrine.”
It was written in a famous encyclopedia of the end of 17th century.


西欧はイスラム教をどう見ていたのか？

「ムスリムが文明化されたキリスト教徒諸民族の上に善政を、またはなんとか我慢できる統治を敷くなどは根本的に不可能だ。」
１９世紀後半、英国の首相グラッドストンはこう言い放った。
彼は敬虔なキリスト教徒であり、植民地拡大期に君臨した人物です。

「ムハンマドの剣とコーランとは文明・自由・真理に対する有史以来最大の敵である。」
１９世紀後半、スコットランドのイスラム学者ウィリアム・ミューアはこう言った。
彼はインド植民地の管理者でもあった。

今でも「コーランか剣か」をイスラム教の攻撃性を示す言葉として信じる向きがあるが、これは捏造に過ぎない。

In the beginning of 16th century, Luther criticized that the Roman Catholic Church had been made by devil in the Christendom as same as the heresy of Muhammad.
He was a theologian who became a pioneer of the Reformation, but he regarded heresy with hostility and also criticized Judaism severely.

The prejudice against the Islam does not seem to change from old days.
The prejudice of the westerner against the Muslim can be summarized into three words: sexual license, murder, and compulsory conversion.
This matches the image of "Thousand and One Nights (Arabian Nights）" introduced in Europe of 1704.


１６世紀初め、ルターは、ローマ・カトリック教会のことを、ムハンマドの異端と同類であってキリスト教世界内部に悪魔がこしらえたものだと批判した。
彼は宗教改革の先駆けとなった神学者ですが、異端を敵視しユダヤ教も痛烈に批判している。

どうやら昔からイスラム教に対する偏見は変わらないようです。
ムスリムに対する西欧人の偏見は性的放縦や殺人、強制改宗に集約されます。
これは１７０４年、西欧に紹介された説話集「アラビアン・ナイト」のイメージに結び付きます。

Why did such prejudice be born, and why did it remain strongly?
The Islam worships the one God as same as Christianity, and two doctrines are similar.
However, it is different to deal with Jesus and the Trinity, etc.
Christian will regard it as heresy.

The Islam was an invader and menace for Europe since the birth period.
Actually, Spain in the west side and Austria in the east side were exposed to their aggression.
Most of Europe lacked the opportunity to know this area and only knew through Byzantine Empire at most.

However, Europe came to have confidence in own civilization when it experienced the Industrial Revolution (since the mid-18th century).
On the contrary, in the end of 18th century, Napoleon conquered Egypt, and Europe ruled the Middle East since the mid-19th century.
Europe had already colonized most parts of the world, but people resisting most stubbornly was only Muslim.

Thus, both religions deepened opposition feelings while having a sacred place in same Jerusalem.

なぜこのような偏見が生まれ、強固に生き続けたのでしょうか？
イスラム教はキリスト教と同じ唯一神を崇め、教義が似ています。
しかしながらイエスや三位一体の扱いなどで違いがあります。
これはキリスト教徒にとって異端に映るのでしょう。

西欧にとってイスラムは誕生期から侵略者であり、脅威であった。
実際、西側のスペインと東側のオーストリアは彼らの侵略に晒された。
西欧の多くはこの地域を知る機会に乏しく、せいぜいビザンチン帝国を通じてであった。

しかし西欧は産業革命（１８世紀半ば～）を経る頃には、自らの文明に自信を持つようになった。
逆に、１８世紀末、ナポレオンはエジプトに遠征し、西欧は１９世紀半ば以降から中東を支配した。
既に西欧は世界の大半を植民地にしていたが、最も頑強に抵抗したのはムスリムだった。

こうして両宗教は聖地を同じエルサレムに持ちながら対立感情を深めていた。

I deal with antagonism and persecution that arise from religion as a theme from now on, and it was a flash point of the problems of the Middle East.
This is a pitiful reality that the human race is burdened with for many years.
Why will religion giving salvation to people produce antagonism and persecution?

これから中東問題の火種の一つ、宗教がもたらす対立や迫害を取り上げます。
これは人類が長年背負って来た痛ましい現実です。
なぜ人々に救いや安らぎを与えてくれる宗教が対立や迫害を生むのでしょうか？


Preface
I will clear up a misunderstanding first.

The antagonism and persecution start with distinguishing the relative (family or group)  from other group.
We unconsciously perform this distinction routinely.
When uneasiness and dissatisfaction in a group increase, the distinction is shared by the group, and becomes discrimination.
The group uses a simple earmark for the discrimination.
The religion is only one of the mark like race, ethnic group, and sex.
But it can become more violent.

最初に誤解を解いておきます。

対立や迫害は、人間が身内（家族や集団）とそれ以外の集団とに区別することで始まります。
私達は日常的に、この区別を無意識で行っています。
そして不安や不満が高まると、これが集団で共有され差別に発展にします。
集団はこの差別に単純明瞭な目印を利用します。
宗教も人種や民族、性別、貴賤などと同様の目印の一つに過ぎない。
ただ、より暴力的になることがある。

As for Buddhism
An early Buddhist scriptures said,
"Buddha said to an elder, there are nine bad habits to women, and they are dirtiness and jealous, and have a bad mouth ....."

There are many sentences that dirty some kind of persons in other scriptures.
For example, " One doing such evil deed must be an untouchable." and " You must not  have friend doing unclean job."
Naturally these scriptures do not prompt such discrimination, and use it to keep away a believer from evildoing.
Unfortunately the common ideas in India of the time have remand in the scriptures.

However, when it was handed down to Japan, it led to the justification of despising women and dirty persons.



宗教が生む様々な対立や迫害


仏教では
初期の仏教経典「増一阿含経」に曰く。
「世尊は長老に言った。女人には九の悪い習性があり、不浄で、悪口多し、嫉妬し、・・・。」

他の教典にも貶める文言が見られる。
例えば、「そんな悪事を働くのは栴陀羅（せんだら、インドの不可触民）だけだ！」「穢れた仕事をする者を友にするな！」などがある。
当然、経典は差別を煽っているのではなく、信者を悪行から遠ざける為に用いている。
残念ながら、当時のインド社会の通念が経典に遺存してしまった。

しかし、これが日本に伝わると、女性や穢れた者を蔑視することの正当化につながった。

Because each denomination competed for power, these happened.


また日本でも仏教の宗派間で内戦が起きている。
１６世紀、戦国時代の京都で、日蓮宗徒が大名と組み、浄土真宗の寺院を焼き討ちした。
また、勢いを増す日蓮宗に業を煮やした比叡山（天台宗）は大名と組み、その僧兵が日蓮宗の寺院を焼き払い、数千人を殺害した。
これは各宗派が勢力を競った為に起こった。

As for Hinduism
The Indian caste system (four hierarchies) was already stipulated in Brahmanism scripture of the Rig-Veda.
The scripture was created in the process that Aryan had invaded the north India more than 3,000 years ago and had conquered aboriginal people.
The class system was also stipulated in Manu Smriti established around A.D.

The reason of the caste system's birth is not clear.
But I think that there were exclusive professional groups suitable for India, and it was strengthened by the logic of dirtiness that Brahman emphasized and the doctrine of the transmigration of souls.
Untouchable being under the four hierarchies has received miserable discrimination.


ヒンドゥー教では
インドのカースト制（４つの階層）は最古のバラモン教の聖典リグ＝ヴェーダに既に規定されていた。
この聖典は３千年以上前にアーリア人が北インドに侵入し、先住民を支配する過程で生まれた。
紀元前後に成立したマヌ法典にも身分制が規定されている。

カースト制誕生の理由は明らかではないが、インドに適した排他的な職能集団があり、それをバラモンが強調する浄・不浄の論理と輪廻思想で強化し定着させたと考えられる。
４つの階層の更に下になる不可触民は悲惨な差別を受けている。

The colony dismantling of the U.K. in 1947 led to the India Pakistani wars that happened many times.
Hindus of the Indian majority and Muslims of the minority antagonized each other, and the latter insisted on separation.
The Muslims achieved independence as Pakistan, but more than ten million refugees flowed in mutually at this time, riots and slaughters occurred, and 1 million people died.
Until now, the antagonism continues due to this issue and possession of Kashmir.

幾度も起こったインド・パキスタン戦争の発端は、１９４７年の英国の植民地解体にあった。
インドの多数派のヒンドゥー教徒と少数派のイスラム教徒の対立が激化し、後者は分離を主張して譲らなかった。
イスラム教徒はパキスタンとして独立を果たしたが、この時に１千万人以上の難民が相互に流入し、暴動や虐殺が発生し１００万人が死んだとされる。
この事とカシミール領有で、現在まで対立は続いている。

From now, we consider miserable incidents happening in the Middle East and terrorism happening frequently in the world.

We will understand what is necessary to keep on our peace by knowing about the backdrops of these miserable incidents.




 

＜　2. Invasion of the Israeli military ＞



At the beginning

Many suicide attacks are repeated in the Middle East, and terrorism killing many citizens occurs frequently in Europe and America.

We feel resentment at the suicide bomb attacks that kill many citizens and it is above the comprehension to person living peacefully.

Recently, it becomes provocative and increases.

For half a century, in the Middle East, governments in many countries did military incursions and slaughtered many people, against them radical extremists massacred private citizen, and assassinations of main persons occurred also.

There isn’t a sign of their stopping.



There are two measures for this situation.

One of these is to make the arrest or a clean sweep of the radical extremists.

It is necessary to perform this by the armaments and police force, but it falls into the vicious circle, and it shows no sign of the settlement.

There is examples that succeeded by drastic treatment if looking back on history, but in this time the background of the terrorism becomes gigantic and spreads over the world.



Then other one of these is to remove the background generating the terrorism.

It is necessary to cut off the present vicious circle, but very difficult.



In first step, while performing the former measures, we understand the background of the terrorism, and people of the world need to acknowledge what we have to do to cut off the vicious circle.

By their attacks, many citizens became victimized, but their attacks are different about under a non-wartime or wartime.



Dead people in the Vietnam War reached approximately 8 million people, but a incident when the United States had to withdraw from Vietnam was the slaughter of Son My village generated 504 dead people.

The degree that we cry with anger doesn’t depend on a number of dead people or massacre weapon, instead, depends on situation that we can feel it closely.



For example, it depends on whether the victim is accessible person or you can know the cruel situation by pictures.

In addition, the problem of “under wartime” is delicate, for example, the understanding about the Pearl Harbor attack is the opposite between Japan and the United States, and it is an indignation thing for the the United States.

We often justify own barbarity and try to escape from a sense of guilt.



It is difficult to judge slaughter fairly, and we often capture it superficially and emotionally

Nothing can be done about this, but it becomes to disturb the understanding and arbitration of dispute.

Today, I introduce the masterpiece “Schindler’s List”.

This describes a Jewish genocide (the Holocaust) that happened during World War II.

You will get a flash of anger and feel tears welling up.

今日は、名作「シンドラーのリスト」を取り上げます。

第二次世界大戦中に起こったユダヤ人の大量虐殺（ホロコースト）を扱っています。

涙と怒りが込み上げてくる映画です。

Lower map:  A map of the Holocaust during the World War II.

Star mark is city with ghetto, skeleton mark is extermination camp, and black mark is concentration camp (prison or forced-labor camp).

Red arrow shows Krakow where a factory of Schindler was in Poland.

There is Auschwitz extermination camp near that.

For a long time, Jewish people of Europe have emigrated to Eastern Europe and America for escaping from persecution, but the situation turned worse since when Nazi began autocracy in 1933.

Besides, when German military invaded Eastern Europe, Jewish people were forcibly shut in by ghetto and camp, and their escape and emigration became mostly impossible.

しかもドイツ軍が東欧に侵攻してくると、ユダヤ人は強制的にゲットーや収容所に閉じ込められ、ほとんどが逃亡や移住が不可能になった。

It was made in The U.S.A. in 1993.

The director is Steven Spielberg, and Liam Neeson is playing the role of Schindler.

― Contents ―

It is a fictionalization of true-life story.

The setting is Poland under German military occupation during World War II.

A German businessman Schindler aimed at making a profit in the war, and came over here from Germany.

He bought a deceased company and employed Jews from ghetto as cheap laborer and entrusted a Jewish accountant with the management.

Because he was a playboy and a member of Nazi party, he ingratiated himself to Schutzstaffel (SS), and his company accomplished rapid growth as a munitions factory, by being provided with the benefit of the military.

However, since a coldhearted man was assigned a new post of the head chief at near Płaszów Concentration Camp, the massacre and cruelty to Jews became widespread.

When the danger approaches Jewish workers of his factory before long, he has a change of heart, and begins to devote himself to Jewish relief.

Furthermore, he plans harboring Jews as the personnel necessary for his munitions factory, for preventing Jews from being sent to extermination camp.

Therefore, he makes "List", corrupts and deceives the Schutzstaffel (SS) by himself almost, and succeeds in their rescue.

He became penniless at last.

More than 1100 Jews were able to survive after the war in this way.

この映画は実話を題材にしています。

舞台は第二次世界大戦中のドイツ軍占領下のポーランドで、ドイツ人実業家シンドラーは戦争で一儲けを狙いドイツからやって来た。

彼は潰れた工場を買い取り、安価な労働力としてゲットーのユダヤ人を雇い、ユダヤ人会計士に経営を任せていた。

彼は遊び人でナチ党員でもあったので、ナチス親衛隊にうまく取り入り、軍需工場として便宜を図ってもらいながら急成長を遂げる。

しかし、近くのプワシュフ強制収容所に冷酷な所長が赴任してくると、ユダヤ人への虐待や殺戮が横行するようになる。

やがて工場に働くユダヤ人にも危険が迫って来ると、彼の心境に変化が現れ、ユダヤ人の救援に心砕くようになる。

さらに、彼はユダヤ人が絶滅収容所に送られるの防ぐ為に、ユダヤ人を軍需工場要員として匿うことを企てる。

その為に「リスト」を作り、ほぼ彼一人で親衛隊員らを買収し騙し、見事救出に成功する。

ついに彼は無一文になった。

こうして、１１００人以上のユダヤ人が戦後も生き残ることが出来た。

Lesson of the history

The Jew that was despised so much is a strong people like supporting Israel and the United States now.

At this moment, it is hard to imagine the persecution for 2000 years by Christian in Europe.

The people that had been persecuted seem to have begun new persecution.

It seems to be difficult to cut off the persecuted fear.

The prohibition to the doctrine violation that every religion has may cause justification of persecution.
